Why do bones become brittle and what is the risk of developing osteoporosis?
These and other questions were the focus of the World Osteoporosis Day. On this occasion, the Kliniken Nordoberpfalz AG invited to a patient forum in the Klinikum Tirschenreuth. There, the guests learned in lectures that osteoporosis in Germany is a common disease. Around seven million people suffer from brittle and porous bones. Women are more affected than men. A healthy diet and sufficient exercise serve to prevent osteoporosis, explained Prof. Dr. med. Rudolf Ascherl, Chief Physician of the Department of Traumatology, Special Surgery and Endoprosthetics at the Tirschenreuth Hospital.
