In a concerted effort to raise awareness about osteoporosis and empower individuals to take proactive steps for bone health, the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute, Iran Osteoporosis Society, and the Department of Prevention and Control of Musculoskeletal Diseases of the Iran Ministry of Health will join forces.
This nationwide campaign, to be launched in conjunction with World Osteoporosis Day, aims to educate the public, particularly women over 50, about the risks, prevention strategies, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.
Key Objectives:
- Increase awareness of osteoporosis and its risk factors among the general public.
- Promote healthy lifestyle habits to support bone health.
- Encourage early diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.
- Provide information on prevention strategies, including nutrition, physical activity, and fall prevention.
Campaign Activities: The campaign, to be held from October 19-24, 2024, will include a series of educational events and activities across all universities in Iran.
The focus will be on educating women over 50 about osteoporosis and emphasizing the importance of early intervention.
Educational Materials: To support the campaign, the Osteoporosis Research Center of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the Education and Health Promotion Office of the Ministry of Health will develop educational materials, including posters, booklets, brochures, and infographics. These materials will be distributed to all urban and rural areas throughout Iran with the collaboration of the 63 medical universities under the coverage of ministry of health.
