The campaign at the Nekrasov English Language School #4 in Yaroslavl started on October 16th, when the Vice-president of RAOP Kseniya Belova, PhD delivered a lecture on osteoporosis, its prevention and its burden to the students and teachers.
Lessons on health were held during the week from October 21st till October 25th, 2024.
This year the senior students at the school in Yaroslavl have marked World Osteoporosis Day by summing up what they have already learnt about this ‘silent’ disease. It has become a tradition to talk about bone health every year in October and as it turns out the students are quite knowledgeable on the subject. As a very dedicated teacher Irina Peneva says especially useful were the materials and infographics designed by IOF and published in the Toolkit on the eve of the event. They proved to be a valuable and effective tool that encouraged students to think about their lifestyle. Hopefully when our pupils become university students next year, they will share their knowledge with their groupmates and create new awareness of bone health.
The middle school kids learnt how to build up and keep their bones strong and healthy. Various IOF posters, brochures, infographics, a quiz, crosswords and videos were used by the teachers at the lessons of English under the slogan “Say NO to Fragile Bones”. They shared what they learnt about osteoporosis at their lessons with their parents and grandparents. The students made their own video about the importance of healthy lifestyle and healthy bones with the help of their teacher. According to their words they really enjoyed the lessons dedicated to WOD. They also participated in the All-Russian Drawing Competition “AI in the Struggle for Healthy Bones”.
