Prevention through assessment of risk of falls and fractures

Falls cause a high degree of morbidity and mortality among the elderly. Preventing falls is an investment in better quality of life. The Densitometry Laboratory (LABDEN) of the Federal University of Technology – Paraná- Brazil, a member of the National Societies Committee of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), has participated in several media interviews to raise public awareness about osteoporosis.

In total, the research group took part in 8 interviews, across digital and television media, stressing that good habits, such as engaging in physical exercise and maintaining a healthy diet, can help the elderly maintain balance and reduce the risk of falls.
