World Osteoporosis Day at Charles Hostler Student Center

Campaign concept: Build Your Bone Bank

Aim: Promote early osteoporosis prevention and lifelong bone health through a three-hour interactive awareness activity led by MS trainees from the Scholars in Health Research Program at AUB.

Purpose and audience: Engage AUB students and student-athletes in understanding how exercise, nutrition, and daily habits support bone health. Faculty and staff are also welcome. The activity complements the AUBMC World Osteoporosis Day initiatives by focusing on young adults.

Activities:

  • Bone Bank Check-In: A brief educational check of exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle habits.
  • Does Your Workout Build Bone? An activity card game on different exercises and how to complete a bone-healthy routine.
  • Move for Your Bones: Supervised demonstrations of simple resistance, weight-bearing, balance, and posture exercises, with an option to observe.
  • Women’s Bone Health: A visual display explaining the relationship between adequate fueling, menstrual health, and bone health.
  • Answer and Win: Short questions, a puzzle, or a matching game, with giveaways or a prize draw. QR codes provide access to educational resources.
