Get involved

World Osteoporosis Day, marked on October 20th each year, is a prime time to put the spotlight on osteoporosis. Below, read about this year’s campaign theme, and how you can get involved and support the campaign in a number of ways.

About the 2026 World Osteoporosis Day Campaign

The 2026 World Osteoporosis Day campaign highlights the importance of lifelong bone health. From building strong bones in childhood and maintaining them through adulthood, to protecting against osteoporosis and preventing fractures later in life, every stage of life matters.

No matter your age, there are important steps you can take to improve your bone health:

  • Build strong bones with a balanced diet rich in calcium and protein, regular weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening exercise, and healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Protect your bones by understanding your osteoporosis risk, seeking assessment when appropriate, staying active, and taking steps to prevent falls.
  • Strengthen your bones if you have osteoporosis or after a fracture through timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment, good nutrition, regular exercise, falls prevention, and ongoing support to reduce the risk of future fractures.

It's never too early—or too late—to take action. By building, protecting, and strengthening your bones throughout life, you can help preserve mobility, independence, and quality of life for years to come.
