“Osteorus” News: “Bone-Healthy Breakfast” event took place in Yaroslavl, Russia
An educational lecture “Osteoporosis is a silent epidemic” was held in Yaroslavl with the support of the All-Russian patient society “Osteorus” and the Russian Association on Osteoporosis (RAOP).
On 09.10.2024 Ksenia Belova, MD, PhD, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare of YSMU, Vice-President of RAOP told the participants of the project “Breakfast with Meaning in Yaroslavl” (co-organizer Tatiana Malysheva, site of the restaurant “Deja Vu”) about prevention and diagnosis of the disease and answered numerous questions of the listeners. Participants of the conversation were interested in healthy nutrition, approaches to early diagnosis of the disease, risk factors for its occurrence and other questions on the topic.
The lecture was followed by a bone-healthy meal.
On October 20, the public in most countries of the world will celebrate World Osteoporosis Day under the motto “Say NO to Fragile Bones”. The Day was first marked in 1999 on the initiative of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO). Each year emphasizes a particular theme.
Within its framework, educational actions are organized in different formats and at different venues to attract public attention to the problem, which is of great social importance. In Russia, since 2011, it has been organized by the Osteorus patient society and RAOP specialists.
“The “Bone-Healthy Breakfast” event took place for the first time in our city. The participants of the event as well as the organizers – “Osteorus” and RAOP volunteers really enjoyed it.
